DESCRIPTION
Formerly married petroleum engineers who still have some issues to work out. They are drafted to assist a gung-ho Navy SEAL with a top-secret recovery operation: a nuclear sub has been ambushed and sunk, under mysterious circumstances, in some of the deepest waters on Earth.
Important note: I released a prior version, uncompressed and in x264, you can find it on the net if you look for it, but its size was almost 90 Gb! After some requests & complaining, I decided to release a "lighter" version, encoded in x265-10 bit, for a more reasonable size and equal quality.
ABOUT THIS 4K RELEASE
Dear fans of James Cameron and "The Abyss",
As you know, so far (August 2022), "The Abyss" movie has never been released in 4K Blu-ray officially.
Only in SD on DVD/LaserDisc (1993), and you can find some bad HD upscales (HDTV/Web Open Matte).
This release is an attempt to create the most perfect 4K version as possible considering the available sources.
This is not an usual stupid upscale, because "The Abyss Ganile Version" has been processed with Artificial Intelligence (Deep learning), through the Topaz Video Enhance AI software.
Days and nights, Artificial Intelligence analyzed and enhanced the movie, frame by frame. There were 2 passes: the first to upscale to 2160p, and the second one, keeping the scale 1:1, for fine-tuning of the picture.
I've made available in this torrent a 50 seconds sample, so that you can check the quality before downloading the whole stuff, in case your ratio is not so good ;)
The result is still visually stunning, specially on humans and objects/machines. Exception are for very dark underwater scenes: because of the bad leveled gradients in the source file (original artifacts due to compression), the software couldn't make it as beautiful as other scenes, some pixels are still there... but anyway it's better than DVD... without any doubt the very best version of "The Abyss" you'll find on Earth, as long as Sir James Cameron and the Studio won't release an official remastered 4K version. When this happens PLEASE BUY IT, to honor what is the most beautiful, insanely spectacular and thrilling movie of history.
"Under pressure: the making of The Abyss" is the official making of available on the 1993 DVD. Very, very bad quality from the source: 4:3 ratio, interlaced MPEG2 video for the most of it, so pure crap. I gave it back some dignity by processing it again with Topaz Video Enhance AI. Again, the best version you'll find on Earth, and this is a must-see to fully understand "The Abyss" mythology in the Hollywood culture.
Feel free to share this with other James Cameron's fans on all possible BT trackers, keeping the folder complete and unmodified please. No re-tag.
