Telligent for workstations blocks spam before your e-mail client. It works by accepting POP3 connections on port 110 of the computer's loopback interface, and forwarding all requests to your ISP's POP3 server. SpamAssassin combines the most effective and advanced anti-spam technologies into one powerful solution that accurately determined whether a message or not spam. It uses a comprehensive list of heuristic rules and controls score messages. This filtering is completely automated, and spam-scoring thresholds are customizable. It also includes Bayesian filters and offers many additional features such as complete spam message reporting, header reporting and much more. SpamAssassin uses the following tests and techniques to identify spam: E-mail header analysis: The e-mail headers are scanned some small inconsistencies can give away the forgeries: A mail date in the past or the future forged message IDs, and the like.
