Catch a Fire è il 6° album in studio del gruppo reggae dei The Wailers, pubblicato nel 1973. L'album consacrò il gruppo come star internazionale, in particolare Bob Marley divenne ben presto famoso in tutto il mondo.
I brani arrivarono alla Island alla fine del 1972 e qui, secondo le indicazioni di Blackwell, furono adattati alle esigenze del pubblico bianco e rock cui era destinato: furono aggiunte delle sovraincisioni di chitarra, ad opera di Wayne Perkins, e di tastiera, ad opera di John "Rabbit" Bundrick.

Bob Marley & The Wailers era una band reggae creata da Bob Marley nel 1974, dopo che Peter Tosh e Bunny Wailer avevano lasciato la precedente band, The Wailers. I fratelli Barrett, Carlton alla batteria e Aston al basso - che si erano uniti ai The Wailers quattro anni prima - scelsero di rimanere con Marley. I fratelli Barrett avevano all'inizio suonato con i The Wailers, mentre ancora facevano parte della band in studio di Lee "Scratch" Perry, The Upsetters. Bob Marley & The Wailers consisteva dello stesso Marley come chitarrista, compositore e cantante, della Wailers Band come band di supporto, e delle I Threes come gruppo corale. La Wailers Band era composta, oltre dai fratelli Carlton, da Junior Marvin e Al Anderson alla chitarra, da Tyrone Downie e Earl "Wya" Lindo alle tastiere e da Alvin "Seeco" Patterson alle percussioni. Le I Threes invece era composto da tre donne, Judy Mowatt, Marcia Griffiths e la moglie di Bob Marley, Rita Marley.
