Episode Plot:
The next number Reese and Finch work on is that of Logan Pierce, a self-made billionaire, whose social networking website, friendczar.com, which he founded and still operates with his best friend and partner, Justin Ogilvie, is going public in 72 hours. This IPO has the potential to be the largest in history. Reese and Finch believe Pierce is the intended target as his reckless and win-at-all-cost mentality has resulted in him making many enemies. These potential enemies include competitors, all of whom friendczar has crushed many in immoral ways, and his own company colleagues who feel that he is too reckless to be an effective CEO and is thus a liability. Reese quickly learns that it will be not easy to follow Pierce as he lives by his own rules, which is made all the more easy for Pierce by his extreme wealth. As such, Reese decides a different than traditional tact is required to protect Pierce. But Reese and Finch also realize that being a wealthy computer expert, Pierce has the potential to be a problem for them in the future. Meanwhile, Fusco contemplates telling Carter of his less than clean past as she delves into murders with which he was involved.

DESCRIPTION
A billionaire software-genius named Harold Finch creates a Machine for the government that is designed to detect acts of terror before they can happen, by monitoring the entire world through every cell-phone, email and surveillance camera. Finch discovered that the machine sees everything, potential terrorist acts and violent crimes that involve ordinary people. When the government considered violent crimes between normal people "irrelevant", Finch built a back door into the system that gives him the social security number of a person involved in a future violent crime so he could act. Partnered with John Reese, an ex-CIA agent, the two work in secret to prevent violent crimes before they can happen. Eventually their activities lead to being hunted by the New York Police Department, CIA Agents in pursuit of Reese who was listed as dead, a computer hacker named Root who wants access to the Machine, and government officials who want to keep all knowledge of the Machine a complete secret.
