DESCRIPTION
The show follows a crime, ususally adapted from current headlines, from two separate vantage points. The first half of the show concentrates on the investigation of the crime by the police, the second half follows the prosecution of the crime in court.

Series Plot: In the criminal justice system, sexually-based offenses are considered especially heinous. In New York City, the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies are members of an elite squad known as the Special Victims Unit. These are their stories.
Episode plot: Well-to-do couple are found tortured and murdered, and Benson and Stabler are on the scene. It turns out they were laundering money for South American drug dealers, and skimming some for themselves. Detectives Benson and Stabler are joined by Detective Sandoval. The investigation goes through many layers, and evidence finally leads the detectives back to the Special Victims Unit's former A.D.A. Alexandra Cabot, who was presumed dead. Despite the risk, Cabot returns from hiding to once again help the team solve the case.
