The action of Six Days in Fallujah takes place during the battle for the titular city of Fallujah, in which American, British and Iraqi troops faced the forces of Iraqi rebels and Al-Qa'ida located there. During the game, we play both soldiers of various nationalities (led by American marines) and an Iraqi civilian.
The authors made every effort to present military operations in a realistic way, as well as to present to a wider audience the stories they heard from over a hundred experts collaborating on this project; we are talking about people who took part in the events shown in individual missions. We learn about their stories by watching video materials implemented in the game and listening to their statements, in which they address us directly.
In Six Days in Fallujah the action is shown from a first-person perspective (FPP).
We spend most of our time in the game in the shoes of soldiers who, together with their units, perform various tasks. Achieving mission goals requires not only tactical sense (during the game we give orders to our subordinates), but also caution. In a city overrun by enemies, danger may lurk around every corner, so when traversing narrow streets and building interiors (the locations are modeled on real places and objects), we must constantly be on our guard.
The matter is complicated by the fact that in order to reflect the uncertainty accompanying real warfare as faithfully as possible and to eliminate the phenomenon of players learning individual locations by heart, the authors implemented elements of procedural map generation. The technology they have developed ensures that the layout of buildings and rooms inside them changes after each restart of the game. In addition, solutions were used that brought the mechanics of fights closer to what shootings look like in reality.
In addition, the game includes stealth missions in which we play the role of an unarmed Iraqi civilian.
Six Days in Fallujah allows you to play alone or in multiplayer cooperation mode.
Although the roots of Six Days in Fallujah date back to the end of the first decade of the 21st century, after being taken over by the Highwire Games team, the project received a solid visual refresh. Thanks to this, the production does not differ from genre standards in this respect, and the locations and equipment of the soldiers delight the eye with details and various flavors.
