Captain of Industry is a production combining economic strategies and simulation games, in which we can test ourselves as the manager of an industrial colony. The title was developed by the independent MaFi Games team and was created, among other things, thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.
In Captain of Industry we see the action from a bird's eye view. We start the game with a small group of survivors who arrive on an abandoned island on board a ship. Although our task is to transform this piece of land into a prosperous, fully self-sufficient industrial colony that will rule the entire region, we start modestly.
At the beginning, we cultivate the land and produce food, extract basic raw materials, produce the simplest goods and build simple structures. Over time, we begin to develop, thanks to which we can acquire further resources (such as coal, iron, copper, gold and other valuable ores), produce fertilizers, food, as well as increasingly complex and more expensive products (such as electronics, photovoltaic panels, data centers or even rockets) or finally the expansion of infrastructure. In addition, research into new technologies plays an important role, thanks to which we gain access to, among others, new buildings and materials. However, when we run out of space, we can expand the island, enlarging the area it occupies, and even try to build dams or level the area. In this way, we gain land on which we can grow new plant species or build new factories.
Captain of Industry has relatively simple graphics. However, the whole thing is transparent, so it serves its purpose perfectly.
