U2’s Rattle and Hum was a bit of a mish-mash. Out of seventeen tracks, two weren’t even from U2, six songs were recorded live in concert, and there were only nine new studio recorded tracks, but the album is generally accepted as U2’s sixth studio album. The album was released as the companion to the movie of the same name, directed by Phil Joanou. The title Rattle and Hum is taken from a lyric from the song “Bullet the Blue Sky” included as one of the live tracks on the album.
I always thought that the album should've included the studio songs on CD1, and the live songs on CD2. And that's exactly what I did. The only way the album makes sense to me is re-tracking everything, so I did. The CD1 contains all the songs from the studio album and all the B-sides that are not remixes or edits of songs on the album, and a couple more songs like Jesus Christ and Christmas (Baby Please Come Home). The CD2 contains all the live songs included on the CD and B-sides and the Blu-ray film. If any song is included in both formats, I chose the CD version to keep the original album as complete as possible. I also tried to keep an order like a TJT Tour setlist.
As a bonus 2CD I have selected the best performances of each song that was played back at the Point Depot, Dublin, Ireland on December 26, 27, 30 & 31, 1989. I have mixed them in a long 30-songs setlist with and every song is mastered at the same volume to avoid weird changes, and the transitions between songs are polished to make it all sound like one big concert.

26th The verse Bono sings at the end of One Tree Hill is completely improvised; it is not a snippet. Part of a William Wordsworth poem is read at the start of Where The Streets Have No Name in tribute to the recently deceased Irish poet Samuel Beckett.
