Description : A package for anonymous Internet surfing by routing and encrypting traffic over a distributed network of servers. Tor Browser Bundle prevents surveillance of a user's Internet connection and obtaining information about which sites are visited, and also hides information about the visitor's physical location from all visited hosts. Includes Tor software and a properly configured Firefox browser. The package does not require installation and can be used from any storage medium, including removable ones (flash drives, etc.).
Using the program: When the file extraction is complete, open the Tor Browser folder from the directory where you saved the files. Double click on the "Start Tor Browser.exe" application. Once Tor starts, a Firefox window will automatically open. Only web pages visited using the Firefox browser included in the installation package will go through Tor. Other web browsers, such as Internet Explorer, will not be affected by Tor. Before visiting any pages, make sure your browser says "Tor is enabled" in the bottom right corner. To reduce the risk, do not run standard Firefox while using the Browser Bundle, and close any previously open standard Firefox browser windows before starting. When you're done browsing the Internet, close all open Firefox windows. For security reasons, the list of web pages you have visited and all cookies will be deleted. Together with the Tor Browser Bundle, Vidalia and Tor will be closed automatically. Remember that Tor anonymizes the source of your traffic and encrypts all traffic within the Tor network, but it cannot encrypt traffic between the Tor network and the destination. If you are transmitting valuable information, you should pay the same attention to security issues as when working over a standard Internet connection - use HTTPS or another method of end-to-end encryption and authentication.
