These encodes were from caps back when Bleach aired on KidsStation from 2011-2014. Back then, disk space was at a premium, so I used a custom 3-pass encoding style to keep the filesize low while retaining as much quality as I could. I never liked channel logos, so I removed them throughout the episodes with the AviSynth Eraselogo function. I also optimized the settings for playback on the PS3 back then. I definitely would have done things differently if I still had the Transport Streams today... Had I known that these TS would be lost to time, I would have bit the bullet and bought a HDD to store all the KidsStation 1920x1080 caps. I guess hindsight is 20:20...
Bleach ending themes all had a 59.94fps scroll speed while the bulk of the episode was 23.976fps, so I did each episode with a variable frame rate and muxed the timecodes into an MP4 file via a program called tc2mp4 (Search: tc2mp4_20060613_pom).
I retained 100% of the episodes, including sponsor stills and post-episode "see you next time" stills/clips (I think they stopped these post-episode clips on episode 189?). I suspect these KidsStation caps are from the original airing of the TV show. They definitely did not have HD source material for episodes 1-167. While the Blu Rays came from a much higher quality source, this set of KidsStation encodes is at very least complete. It's a shame that Japan didn't release all of the episodes on Blu Ray. Regardless, I hope this collection of encodes can serve as a record of the original broadcast. Enjoy!
