In Lake Maracaibo, in the northwestern part of Venezuela, a long-hidden extraterrestrial artifact underneath the ocean floor triggers a disaster. The United States military launches an expedition, sending a cutting-edge team of international researchers to the source of a magnetic instability that's destroying any electronics in the region.
Inside the large artifact is a chamber that's large enough for the researchers to enter. After a shocking death, the scientists from the United States, Europe, and Russia realize that it is a teleportation device. But they soon face a fundamental question: Why do those who enter the chamber fall into a coma? Are they traveling to other places, or is it all just an illusion? Dream or reality, the other side of the teleporter turns out to be a hell that puts not only the team, but the entire project to the test—because they are not alone out there.
Into the Darkness:
James and his team are stranded on Prime. Their way back is blocked, and they face a world taking its last breaths. Only a small area of forest seems to defy the radiation and storms, and its nature puzzles the explorers. But on the horizon, they see the remains of a city and gain new hope—until they find out what really happened on this dark planet.
Into the Light:
The transition through the experimental teleporter on Al'Antis was successful. James and his team have found the original teleporter of the elders. But what awaits them on the other side is not what they expected. They find the answers they so ardently desire, but none of them makes their future any easier. On the contrary, they suddenly find themselves facing a final great danger to their home planet that seemed unreachable: Earth.
But the place where James, Mila, Mette, Adrian, Meeks, and Justus find themselves turns everything they have believed upside down—including time itself. Can they make it back to Earth? Or will they remain trapped among the stars? And if they succeed, will their home still exist?
