DESCRIPTION
Genius detective Nero Wolfe and his right-hand man: Archie Goodwin, solve seemingly impossible crimes, in 1950's New York.
Sinopsis by IMDBThis is an excellent show that gets too little attention, perhaps because it hasn't been easy to find.
First there was a movie: The Golden Spiders; A Nero Wolfe Mystery (2000) IMDB 7.6
Then there was a two-season TV show: A Nero Wolfe Mystery (2001)
Both the movie and the entire TV show are included in this torrent. Every episode (and the movie) has English subtitles.
For the movie, the default language is Russian; you have to select English audio.
The show is set during WWII but the fact that a war is on only comes up tangentially. Cool old cars. Touches of jazz. Dancing. Maury Chaykin is excellent as Nero Wolfe: grouchy, erudite, busy with his orchids, fine cuisine and mystery solving. Timothy Hutton's Archie Goodwin, Wolfe's streetwise partner in the detective business, is charming and deft with bad guys and lovely women.
The show has an ensemble of supporting actors who play different characters from one episode to the next. It's interesting to see the variety of people they portray.
For me, the show is infinitely rewatchable. Enjoy!
