Ron's Rush RoIO Review
(Grade: B+)
Rush seems to like playing Albany, and it definitely shows on this night. A great, relatively rare first-leg RTB performance which really delivers the goods. By this point, "Ghost of a Chance" had been worked into the set. So, we have almost the full show on this boot. Unfortunately, "Force Ten" is missing. Also, some of Geddy's inter-song banter has been edited. The sound quality though is pretty good. A very clear, well-mixed recording which suffers from only the slightest amount of fidelity loss. There is also a video of this show out there.
Upgrade Notes:
The volume was a bit low and the channels weren't balanced on this one. So I used the Normalize (normalize stereo channels independently with DC offset correction) effect in Audacity to increase the volume and balance the channels. The first song, Force Ten, was missing. So I added in that track from the "The Rochester Trilogy Part 2" release about 6 weeks before this show. Then did my best to seamlessly transition it into Limelight, the next track, with EAC Sound Processing. I also patched four small cuts in Subdivisions during the intro section and Geddy's vocals with "The Rochester Trilogy Part 2". A few minor pops, dropouts, volume changes, and many tracking issues fixed. So most track times are now different compared to the originals. No EQ, NR, or other tampering. New ffp and md5 checksums, and artwork with photos from this tour. So this should be considered a slight upgrade to the original Voodoo Records release but not definitive. I did this for my own enjoyment and wanted to share. NEVER FOR SALE.
New lineage is: Unknown generation audience recording > Roll Models (and 2 tracks from TRTP2) shn > TLH > wav > Audacity and EAC > wav > TLH > flac level 8 align on sector boundaries
