(SPEED-CORRECTED RE-WORK OF "Something Old, Something New" [ http://www.digitalrushexperience.com/database/review.php?RecordingID=1029 ])
This is a soundboard from the brief pre-Moving Pictures tour, but it's not without its problems! The "Something Old, Something New" production has significant pitch issues throughout, which are compounded by the fact that two sources were used to create it (including more than 1 patched section in "The Spirit of Radio" itself!), and both of them are off by different amounts. Moreover, the pitch goes WAY off the reservation in the latter part of "A Passage to Bangkok." The sound quality is otherwise very nice, but those problems really hindered the listening experience for me. Using a free tuning app, I compared against studio references to assess the differences throughout and then adjusted the speed accordingly on the source so that it now plays much closer to the correct pitch. Given the speed fluctuations throughout the recording, there was only so much I could do--you can still hear it going on within certain tunes if you're listening for it, but I spent many hours assessing & correcting the average deviations and the more glaring jumps wherever I could, and I'm happy enough with the results to share them with you--it's a lot closer to "correct" now! I also copied/pasted to repair a short drop-out that was at the beginning of "Jacob's Ladder," and made the volume more consistent throughout. The pre-Moving Pictures performances of "Limelight" and "Tom Sawyer" are slightly different than their studio counterparts! The artwork is downloaded from DRE and doesn't reflect the revised running times. Enjoy!
