L'Alba del Pianeta delle Scimmie è un film del 2011 diretto da Rupert Wyatt.
Tre scimpanzé vengono strappati al loro habitat naturale, la giungla del Congo, e trasportati alla Gen-Sys, un'azienda farmaceutica di San Francisco.
Qui sono sottoposti agli esperimenti dello scienziato Will Rodman (James Franco) che testa su di loro il virus ALZ-112. La speranza dei ricercatori della società è che il farmaco possa finalmente curare l'Alzheimer, malattia di cui è affetto anche Charles (John Lithgow), il padre di Will.
Tuttavia gli effetti del virus non sono quelli sperati e Steven Jacobs (David Oyelowo), il cinico ed impassibile capo dell'azienda, dà un ordine perentorio: interrompere immediatamente lo studio e sopprimere tutte le cavie presenti in laboratorio.
