Note : Another one in the line of increasingly hard to distinguish Italian zombie films, by Bruno Mattei, who also did the pretty bad Zombie Flesh Eaters 2, although this is a bit better than that one. There's also a score by Goblin, although as I understand it, it's mostly just lifted from other scores Goblin did, and not an original. It also has some weird elements of mondo film, including shots of animals fighting and some "primitive tribes", for some reason.
A chemical research center in Papua New Guinea suffers a leak of an experimental substance that turns the workers into zombies and then spreads across the countryside. A group of special forces is dispatched from, I think it's supposed to be London, to investigate just after they've killed a bunch of terrorists who demanded the research centers be shut down, and they run into a pair of French journalists who tag along when they're beset by zombies. Pretty much everyone in this film is an idiot, though, so they end up in stupid situations like infiltrating a native village where, according to the female journalist, "There's only one thing to do", which is to strip down naked and paint her face and body so she'll be accepted by the tribe, which, astonishingly, works. However, the situation deteriorates as they run into more zombies and reach the facility, where they'll discover the sinister (and dumb) purpose of "Project Sweet Death".
This 88 Films remaster is fine, nothing special, but decent enough image and sound quality. As usual, go for the original audio, although the dub is also included. Subtitles were pretty bad, but I've corrected the worst of them.
