This is the first of five planned uploads of each of Symphogear's five seasons, which I plan to finish shortly after Discotek releases the blu-ray for Symphogear XV (on February 28th). Video/audio is encoded, by myself, directly from the Discotek release, and muxed to 1080p with FLAC 24-bit audio. There is only one embedded subtitle track, which is also from the Discotek Blu-ray release. The bonus features from the blu-ray, which include the PVs, TV spots (narrated in-character by the anime cast), Cast & Crew Q&A, and other extras, are included as well.
**Q: "Why do we need yet another Symphogear release?"**
A: The Discotek blu-rays have a new subtitle translation, and no one else bothered uploading the Discotek subtitles. I like the Discotek subtitles, and prefer them. As such, I decided to upload them myself.
**"Q: Okay, but why should *I* want the Discotek subtitles?"**
A: Because they're good and I like them. The translation, writing, and [characterization](https://twitter.com/ulsairi/status/1291471703810301952) are all great, they're legible and easy on (my) eyes, and the song subtitles [look nice](https://twitter.com/ulsairi/status/1503553753101705220) without being overly distracting or blending into the rest of the subtitles in a huge unreadable mess.
Also, they're consistent. The other choices are Crunchyroll (no, just no) and all the fansub groups who've been having at the series since it started airing, and all of the people making edits to those subs, either to make dubious alterations to "be more accurate," or change certain terms around, or to retime Commie's subtitles to the blu-ray releases, and all the various releases of the series that include *all of these subtitle tracks* in an attempt to please everyone and leave new viewers trying to make sense of it all. It's all kind of a huge mess. especially since there's no consensus on which fansubs are the best (that I've seen anyway).
But now Symphogear has [official fansubs](https://twitter.com/ulsairi/status/1530630102081363968/)! Which are written for the blu-ray releases in the first place (and not awkwardly re-timed for them), and are consistent between seasons in their writing, subtitle stylings, characterizations, and the terms they use. So, if that matters to you, then this is the release you want.
Also the subtext between Hibiki and Miku is a bit more obvious in this translation and I happen to care about that.
**"Q: But I prefer the other subtitles!"**
For simplicity's sake, I decided not to include any other subtitles in this release. If you want a different subtitle track, you're welcome to find another torrent, or modify this release to include the subs of your liking.
