Un uomo, concepito da uno scienziato con l'ambizione di creare l'essere più intelligente del mondo, invecchia prematuramente per via di un grosso problema: non riesce a sognare. Aiutato dai suoi fratelli, concepiti anche questi in provetta (sono infatti dei cloni), rapisce i bambini della città portuale per poterne rubare i sogni e trovare la cura alla sua malattia prima di morire. Il problema con i bambini che rapisce è che fanno sempre e solo incubi, fondamentalmente perché hanno paura proprio di lui, e per questo non c'è modo di trovare una soluzione.
Ma un giorno rapisce Denrée, il fratello di One, il ragazzo che fa dimostrazioni di forza per strada per guadagnarsi da vivere. One ha soltanto Denrée al mondo e si mette subito alla sua ricerca....
