DESCRIPTION

Rowena Price is a muckraking reporter for a New York paper. When her story about a closeted gay Senator who preaches family values is spiked, she quits and soon finds herself investigating the grisly murder of a childhood friend. Her friend had been dumped by ad exec Harrison Hill, so he's Rowena's prime suspect. Rowena gets a job at the ad agency as a temp, and she's soon the object of Hill's attentions. She's helped in her subterfuge by Miles Haley, a friend at the paper who has a secret thing for her. Everyone, it seems, has secrets, including Hill, who must keep his affairs from his wife - her money fuels his lifestyle. Murder will out?

Perfect Stranger , film diretto da James Foley, segue la storia di Rowena Price (Halle Berry), una giornalista d’inchiesta di base a New York. Quando il suo ultimo scoop su un senatore omosessuale viene scartato dal redattore della testata per cui lavora, la donna decide di licenziarsi.
In metro, Rowena incontra per caso Grace Clayton (Nicki Aycox), una sua amica d’infanzia, la quale le racconta di essere stata appena lasciata da Harrison Hill (Bruce Willis), il direttore di una delle più famose agenzie pubblicitarie della città. I due avevano avuto un litigio poiché Grace voleva rivelare alla moglie di Harrison della loro relazione segreta.
Il giorno dopo, Grace viene trovata morta: forte di ciò che le era stato detto dall’amica, Rowena sospetta da subito del suo ex amante. Con l’aiuto di Miles (Giovanni Ribisi), suo ex collega ed esperto informatico, la giornalista inizia a investigare sul potente pubblicitario. Per spiare Harrison, Rowena si fa assumere come stagista nella sua azienda con il falso nome di Katherine, ma ben presto si accorge di essere finita in una pericolosa trappola...
