Note : More Sergio Martino giallo, this is one of his first (from the same year as The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh), and this one is clearly the work of a director finding his style. While it features several of the actors who would become his regulars, including George Hilton and Anita Strindberg, and also Luigi Pistilli in a smaller role, but no Edwige Fenech (possibly his brother/producer Luciano Martino was not married to her yet at the time this was produced?), it's not at all as lurid and scandalous as his later gialli, and is much more of a straight crime thriller (no naked dancing hippies and no lesbians). There are, however, a lot of the twists and red herrings Martino is so fond of, and quite a few throat-slashings by a switchblade wielding murderer in black vinyl pants, and it's set in Greece, so the scenery is nice.
In London, a younger woman married to an older businessman who spends most of his time away in Greece (shades of Mrs. Wardh here) is with her lover when she receives word that her husband has died in a plane crash. It turns out he's taken out a million dollar insurance policy with her as the beneficiary, and she needs to travel to Greece to cash out. Arriving, she runs into a suspicious insurance investigator who seems to think she might have had something to do with her husband's death, but when she receives the full payout in cash and is promptly murdered in her hotel room while preparing to return to London, the suspicions of the Greek police and the Interpol fall on the multiple shady characters who were circling around her trying to get a piece of the money.
This remaster is fine looking, if a bit grainy, at least color and contrast are quite nice. The two mono tracks also sound fine, the levels on the commentary track are a bit off, but otherwise not much to complain about.
