DESCRIPTION
Olivier calls himself a 'statistical miracle'. He is almost 27 years old, but doctors had predicted that, because of the heart disease he was born with, he would not get much older than 25 years. He doesn't seem to be suffering from the threat of death closing in on him. With unbridled energy he parties, smokes, drinks, and dances until deep into the night, and in the morning wakes up in bed next to girls he doesn't even know. His lifestyle has alienated his family and friends from him, and the fact that he doesn't have lasting relationships doesn't bother him. Olivier lives day by day. Then a new future opens up to him when new medical technologies make curing him possible. Everybody is happy, but Olivier doesn't know how to deal with the expectations and responsibilities of his new life.

Olivier noemt zichzelf een statistisch wonder. Hij is nu al bijna 27, terwijl de artsen hebben voorspeld
dat hij met zijn aangeboren hartafwijking niet veel ouder dan 25 zou worden. Hij lijkt niet te lijden
onder de dreiging van een vroege dood. Olivier is een feestbeest met een tomeloze energie. Hij
rookt, drinkt, danst tot diep in de nacht en wordt regelmatig wakker naast een hem onbekend
meisje. Dat hij met deze levensstijl vrienden en familie van zich vervreemdt en geen vrouw voor
langere tijd aan zich weet te binden, deert hem niet. Olivier leeft met de dag. Totdat nieuwe
medische technologie het mogelijk maakt hem te genezen en een nieuwe toekomst ineens voor hem
openligt. Iedereen is dolblij, maar Olivier weet zich geen raad met de verwachtingen en
verantwoordelijkheden die nu ineens zijn deel zijn. Hij doet een poging om zijn studie op te pakken
en zoekt een meisje op, dat hem van een wilde nacht is bijgebleven, maar alles lijkt op niets uit te
lopen.
