DESCRIPTION
Loosely based on the life of Eddie Huang during the mid-to-late 1990s, an Asian-American family decides to move to Orlando, Florida from Washington D.C. in order to embrace the "American Dream." However, the family faces many obstacles as they try to assimilate with the new culture that surrounds them.

Series Plot: It's the '90s and 12 year old, hip-hop loving Eddie just moved to suburban Orlando from DC's Chinatown with his parents. It's culture shock for his immigrant family in this comedy about pursuing the American Dream. Fresh Off the Boat is based on Chef Eddie Huang's memoir "Fresh Off the Boat".
Episode plot: The Huangs are pleasantly surprised to find that Eddie has been awarded a spot in the Honor Society, but Evan is particularly bothered by the news. Meanwhile, Jessica receives a note from her book editor to improve her cop dialogue and signs up for a ride-along to better her writing. Then, on St. Patrick's Day, Matthew Chestnut doesn't have the luck of the Irish on his side when Louis receives orders from Kenny Rogers to fire him.
