DESCRIPTION

Alice, an unpretentious and individual 19-year-old, is betrothed to a dunce of an English nobleman. At her engagement party, she escapes the crowd to consider whether to go through with the marriage and falls down a hole in the garden after spotting an unusual rabbit. Arriving in a strange and surreal place called "Underland," she finds herself in a world that resembles the nightmares she had as a child, filled with talking animals, villainous queens and knights, and frumious bandersnatches. Alice realizes that she is there for a reason--to conquer the horrific Jabberwocky and restore the rightful queen to her throne.

Alice in Wonderland, il film del 2010 diretto da Tim Burton, ha per protagonista della vicenda Alice Kingsleigh (Mia Wasikowska), una giovane ragazza che sogna una vita avventurosa.
Quando lo sgradevole lord Hamish Ascot (Leo Bill) la chiede in sposa, Alice si rifiuta di prendere una decisione e fugge nel bosco. Qui, la ragazza si imbatte nel Bianconiglio e l’incontro fa riaffiorare vaghi ricordi del passato. Convinta di aver già conosciuto la frettolosa creatura, Alice la segue dentro una grande buca e si ritrova in una stanza, che ha per unica via di fuga una minuscola porta.
Rimpicciolita grazie ad una pozione, Alice incontra gli strampalati gemelli Pincopanco e Pancopinco, il Ghiro e il Dodo. Tutti sono molto felici di vederla dal momento che, come le spiega il saggio Brucaliffo, lei è destinata ad uccidere il temibile Ciciarampa nel Giorno Gioiglorioso.
Proprio quando Alice inizia a percepire di essere già stata nel Sottomondo, IIosovic Stayne (Crispin Glover), braccio destro della perfida Regina Rossa (Helena Bonham Carter), attacca il gruppo in sella al feroce Grafobrancio. Alice riesce a fuggire e lo Stregatto, l’unico ad essere certo che lei sia la vera Alice della profezia, la conduce nel giardino del Cappellaio Matto (Johnny Depp).
Durante l’ennesima imboscata della regina, il Cappellaio si sacrifica per salvarle la vita. Grazie ad una dose sbagliata di biscotto della crescita, che la rende una gigantessa, Alice viene accettata dalla corte della crudele regina e, sotto mentite spoglie, recupera la spada della profezia.
Dopo essersi guadagnata la fiducia del Grafobrancio, Alice si rifugia nel castello della benevola Regina Bianca (Anne Hathaway). Il Cappellaio, tuttavia, viene condannato a morte e il Giorno Gioiglorioso si avvicina.
Il futuro del Paese delle Meraviglie e dei suoi amici è in mano ad Alice, che comprenderà la grande importanza di poter scegliere il proprio destino.
