[HairColor] Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Gou [1080p] [batch]
The long-awaited batch has arrived.
## v2 Changes
Yes, everything is a v2. Changes from the individual v1 releases (well, except episode 20 which changed from a v2 to a v3):
- Changed the title metadata to be correct in all episodes
- Added a description of the subtitle track in episodes 1-4
- Retimed episodes 1-4 according to the standard I had come to use in later episodes (the difference is mostly where adjacent lines are split)
- Made the Rena dialogue karaoke and verbal ticks in episodes 1-4 more consistent with later episodes
- Fixed the OP lyrics in episodes 2-4, 6, 7, and 10. It sure sounds to me like "I believe in what you said", but if you look at the credits, the title of the song is "I believe what you said", so I went with that for consistency.
- Made minor adjustments to the scripts of some episodes (didn't keep track of which ones)
- Retimed episodes 15 and 16 because I rushed through those in the v1
- Renamed the purple haired character from Featherine to Eua in the script styles for episodes 20-24 (just for pedantry -- this doesn't affect the viewing experience)
Some things I had planned to do but gave up on:
- Proper typesetting of the series title during the OP (too many frames with too much going on)
- Adding a gradient to the Child Welfare Services Center sign in episodes 11-13 (upon closer inspection, the gradient on the JP sign is not uniform from left to right)
- Retiming to a different video source (maybe when the blurays come out?)
## Release Description
Video and audio are stream copied from Nii-sama. What makes this release unique is the subtitles, which have been heavily modified in the following ways:
- All episodes retimed as of v2
- Changed the main dialogue font to Edmondsans-Bold
- Created a separate dialogue style for each of the main characters based on their hair color (hence the release group name), which required marking the speaker on every single line
- Restyled all of the signs
- Restyled the OP/ED (episode 1 ED styling comes from the [RESubs](https://nyaa.si/view/837760) release of season 1, since it's the same as the original opening)
- Split some long lines, combined some short lines, and removed hard-coded newlines in places I thought they were unnecessary
- Shortened or reworded some lines for clarity
- Occasionally retranslated lines where I felt the localization didn't fit (this happens maybe once every few episodes -- the overall *translation* is still substantially the same as the official one from Funimation)
- Added dialogue karaoke for the lines where characters (especially Rena) repeat themselves, and added verbal ticks such as "Hauu" and "Nipah" in some places Nii-sama didn't have them
- For the most part, honorifics were already present in the source, but every once in a while I noticed some that were missing and added them in for consistency
## Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gou / When the Cicadas Cry: Karma

## Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Sotsu / When the Cicadas Cry: Graduation
Another season of Higurashi has been announced, currently expected to air in Summer 2021. Given that I have already developed a pretty good workflow for releases based on hair color, it shouldn't be too much trouble to pick this back up when the time comes.
## Project Status
I won't be doing any spring seasonals, but I will keep chugging along at Strawberry Panic. I haven't decided whether I want to continue High Rise Invasion. Earwig and the Witch will probably get a v3 when the blurays come out. I may release some other stuff in a non-weekly format.
