DESCRIPTION
Scotland Yard DI Richard Poole is sent to the Caribbean island of Sainte Marie to solve a fellow policeman's murder. Having done so, he finds himself seconded to the local police force as the dead man's replacement. Poole proves to be a brilliant detective, solving several complex murders. He's not quite suited to either the pace of life on the island or the heat and sand, neither of which he likes very much. He also doesn't like seafood. That aside, the place is just great.

Series Plot: Detective Inspector Richard Poole is transferred to Saint Marie, an island in the Caribbean. Totally unsuited to the Caribbean way of life, Richard hates the sun, sea and sand and isn't used to the Saint Marie style of policing. Working with the exotic Camille each week Richard investigates intricate and intriguing murders.
Episode plot: When renowned concert pianist Pasha Verdinikov is shot dead during an apparent burglary, Neville is quick to conclude that the scene was staged and Pasha was murdered. But the four people under suspicion - the victim's family and domestic workers - all have seemingly solid alibis. However, matters are complicated when the discovery of new evidence links the crime to a case from 20 years ago.
