DESCRIPTION
Parody of television soap-operas--the show's humor relies on exaggerating soap-operas' characteristic plot implausibility and melodrama to ridiculous extremes, then adds a fair bit of the truly bizarre, including some remarkable characters.
Sinopsis by IMDBSOAP, a controversial (not for prime time), edgy sitcom that aired from 1977 to 1981. Jessica Tate and Mary Campbell are sisters in Connecticut. Jessica is rich. Mary is not. The two sisters play matriarch in their own homes, but the utter craziness extends into both families. SOAP was edgy and originally only aired during late night hours. Some stations refused to air the series in fear of offending the church, conservatives, or the LGBT community. After 4 seasons, sponsors abruptly ended their support in fear of what consumers might think of them. The SOAP cast moved on; most of them becoming well known Hollywood actors and actresses in other popular sitcoms and movies.
