Classics of Western Spirituality is an English-language book series published by Paulist Press from 1978 to the present. It offers an extensive library of historical texts on Christian spirituality, as well as a representative selection of works on Jewish, Islamic, and Native American spirituality. Each volume is critically selected and translated by one or more internationally recognized scholars and spiritual leaders, with scholarly introductions and carefully selected bibliographies of primary and secondary sources. The series includes multiple genres of spiritual writing, including prayers, poems, songs, liturgical texts, essays, theological treatises, scriptural exegesis, meditations, mystical visions, spiritual biographies, and philosophical investigations.
The series comprises roughly 150 volumes, of which 55 are included here. Older versions of a few of these files have previously appeared on torrent sites, but most are new here. All of the pdf files have been improved in various ways from pdf versions of the same titles available elsewhere. Each book is in pdf format unless otherwise noted. Known problems with the files are also noted below.
It is hoped that more books in this series will become available in the future; they will be posted as they become available. If fixable defects are found in any of these volumes, corrected and improved versions will also be posted as needed.
