Defraggler 2.07.346 Editor's review
Overview
Let’s admit it, the defragmentation utility included in Windows is a chore to use. The defrag process is slow and you have to defrag a whole disk drive. Honestly, every time I start that, I will actually cancel the process because I simply don’t have the patience to wait till the whole process is completed. Sadly, there is no alternative. Let’s say you wish to defrag a single folder or just some individual files? It is impossible because the defrag tool used by Windows doesn’t offer such advanced features. Trumpets please! Defraggler is here to save the day! Your computer will be more responsive and reliable with this software product. Defraggler is a defrag software product that’s portable, promises speed and will allow you to defragment individual files and folders. Let’s analyze the features included in Defraggler in this review. Let’s kick it off!
Installation
Small in size, Defraggler is a lightweight tool that boasts a very simple and straightforward installation. After choosing the desired location on your hard drive, the installation will be complete in just a few seconds and you will be ready to unleash its defrag power on your disk drives. Supporting all of the available versions of Windows from Win 2000 onwards, you should be happy to find out that Defraggler doesn’t come with adware/malware or other programs bundled with it.
Interface
Defraggler boasts a simple interface that is very easy to use and as a result, novice users will have no problems in defragmenting their PCs. The well placed buttons and controls allow for an easy and smooth navigation. The nice looking interface is prettier than the default defrag tool in Windows and the disk layout in the traditional "large mosaic of colored squares" fashion is shown. There is no added functionality when compared to the line graph style of Windows but the design of Defraggler is more interesting to watch. And aesthetics matter, right?
Pros
Defraggler is a very good solution for the defragmentation of your disk drives. You can either defrag the whole drive or just select individual files. The process is quick and simple and, in the case of defragging a few folders, it takes just a few seconds. Disk maintenance will become easier and more focused as Defraggler boasts a set of nice features that you won’t find in the standard defrag tool included in Windows. For example, all of your fragmented files are shown by Defraggler and you can click on such a file and see the location of its pieces on your drive. This feature is extremely useful when dealing with large files of critical importance such as databases. Defraggler is also a compact and portable tool. Written in the same compact architecture as CCleaner, Defraggler is a compact single EXE application that can be copied on any USB drive and take it anywhere you like! There is no complex installation process here!
Cons
The defragmentation of entire drives is rather slow, especially if you have large HDDs. But hey, it’s the norm, guys!
Alternatives
Alternatives to Defraggler include: Auslogics Disk Defrag, MyDefrag, Smart Defrag, PerfectDisk, Diskeeper, O&O Defrag and many more tools.
Conclusion
All in all, Defraggler is a decent defrag tool with some useful features. It is an ideal tool for small files and folders because there are better and faster alternatives on the market to handle larger items.
