Synopis:
The young D'Artagnan (Michael York) arrives in Paris with dreams of
becoming a King's Musketeer. He meets and quarrels with three men, Athos
(Oliver Reed), Porthos (Frank Finlay), and Aramis (Richard Chamberlain),
each of whom challenges him to a duel. D'Artagnan finds out they are
Musketeers and is invited to join them in their efforts to oppose Cardinal
Richelieu (Charlton Heston), who wishes to increase his already
considerable power over King Louis XIII (Jean-Pierre Cassel). D'Artagnan
must also juggle affairs with the charming Constance Bonancieux (Raquel
Welch) and the passionate Lady De Winter (Faye Dunaway), a secret agent
for the Cardinal.
Sinopse Pt Br:
Após ser treinado pelo pai, o jovem D'Artagnan (Michael York) ruma para
Paris sonhando se tornar um mosqueteiro do rei. Já no caminho é
ridicularizado, devido à sua inexperiência, por Rochefort (Christopher Lee),
o braço direito do cardeal Richelieu (Charlton Heston), que usa sua enorme
influência para governar a França indiretamente através do rei. D'Artagnan
nada sabe sobre isto e quer apenas demonstrar seu valor. Ele fica tão
ansioso que acaba se desentendendo com três espadachins, Athos (Oliver
Reed), Porthos (Frank Finlay) e Aramis (Richard Chamberlain), sem imaginar
que eles são os mosqueteiros do rei. D'Artagnan marca três duelos com eles,
mas antes que os confrontos aconteçam os quatro enfrentam membros da
guarda do cardeal e, assim, ficam amigos. Em razão da rainha estar muito
apaixonada pelo Duque de Buckingham (Simon Ward), um nobre inglês, ela
fica numa situação muito delicada e Richelieu quer usar isto para aumentar
seu poder. Assim D'Artagnan terá a chance de impedir as maquinações do
cardeal e mostrar seu valor.
