Straight from the size of the setup kit, you can tell that CyberLink PowerDVD is an advanced software product. In spite of the 200MB size of the setup kit, the installation of CyberLink PowerDVD is pretty fast! In order to install it on your system, you need one of the following versions of Windows: Windows 7, Vista and XP. CyberLink PowerDVD doesn’t have any other programs bundled with it. The installation is smart, fast and you need at least DirectX 9.0b installed on your system to run it.
Interface

The main strength of CyberLink PowerDVD is its versatility as it can play almost any media file out there. Moreover, you can even view your favorite photos in a slideshow with just a few clicks. CyberLink PowerDVD doesn’t only play files that are stored on your PC. The content from DLNA servers, Apple and Android smart devices can be accessed as well as playing videos from Youtube inside the program. Fancy checking your friend’s photos on Facebook or Flickr? Simple, this is possible from CyberLink PowerDVD and the browsing is easy and quick. In addition, 3D content can be played with CyberLink. The program boasts a strong social side as you can upload movies on Facebook or Youtube and add comments on such websites. All in all, CyberLink PowerDVD is jam packed with features and sports great functionality. Cons
In terms of cons, it must be said that the main disappointment of CyberLink PowerDVD is that there is no way of controlling the interface via remote. The bare minimum playback abilities can be achieved if you have a remote with mouse controls. It’s a pity that it ruins the fun a little for an otherwise solid interface. The other disappointing aspect is the lack of telephone support if you haven’t bought their support package, priced at $29.95. And this money is only for two months of telephone support.
Alternatives
If there’s anything out there that comes in all shapes and sizes, it’s probably the media player. There are a ton of media players and alternatives to CyberLink PowerDVD but the question is if they’re better. The answer is surely no. VLC media player, Media Player Classic, KMPlayer, GOM Player and more are great media players but they lack the social side of CyberLink as well as tons of features that are provided with it. It is really the ultimate media player.

It seems that the claim that CyberLink PowerDVD can play any media file in existence has turned out to be true. CyberLink PowerDVD is a solid and reliable media player which offers so much bang for your buck that it is almost unbelievable. It is packed with interesting and valuable features that can’t be ignored. Of course, it is a little expensive but it is the most powerful media player at the moment.
