CityCAD Viewer 2.1is such a functional and flexible program which provides for conceptual urban masterplanning, sustainability and liveability analysis. You can sketch a network of streets, set building heights and land uses, and watch as floor areas, densities and other values are calculated automatically. Benefits:CityCAD can save you a huge amount of time and add value to your projects.CityCAD works best for projects from about 1ha up to about 200ha in size. You can use it for much larger models, but performance may be affected depending on model complexity and available graphics hardware.CityCAD is designed to be used in the early stages of a masterplanning project. It can be used right at the start to 'sketch the first lines', or it can be used soon after the first hand-drawn sketches. Most masterplan layouts begin as hand-drawn sketches, often at a public consultation or collaborative workshop event. These early sketches will establish the strategic principles of a scheme - the main routes, areas and layout.CityCAD can be used to test many different variations of the design in order to validate the initial concept and give greater confidence to the design team that the right approach is being followed.CityCAD can also help identify problems early, before they become too expensive to rectify.Major Features:Drawing FeaturesNew Multi-Route Tool and Curved Multi-Route tool for drawing routes.Improved DXF CAD Import - DXF blocks can be inserted as separate DXF City Items, and DXF Base Maps can now be easily refreshed from source file.Ortho Snap drawing constraints.Visualization FeaturesAutomatic generation of models around the perimeter of blocks, and trees within the centre of blocks.Analysis and Information FeaturesCity Defaults replaced by Block, Route, Tree and City Item custom-type managers.Land Use Defaults replaced by Land Use Manager (for both embedded and custom land uses)Revised Liveability tab with new sub-tabs for living space, services/amenities, active frontage and diversity.Powerful new Advisor tab where you can set detailed criteria and thresholds, and be alerted if they are crossed.Custom Parameters - create and apply your own custom parameters to elements and floors/subdivisions within elements.New Column selector for City Grid.City Design Assistant PanelRevised Embedded Browser - Help and Support, News, Tools and Resources.Current Selection - summary of totals for multiple selections, create custom library of batch edit functions.Draw Blocks - specify exact size of rectangular blocks and gridirons before placing.Sample Files - custom library of URB models which can be easily inserted into your model.Settings Library - custom library of settings combinations which can be applied to elements in your model using the new 'Apply Settings' tool.Online Database - link from CityCAD to online database of urban spaces and housing projectsToolbarsSnaps Toolbar - quickly toggle snaps on and off when drawing routesNavigation Toolbar - use to move around your model as an alternative to keyboard shortcuts or orbiting/dragging.MiscellaneousPerformance and Stability EnhancementsAddition of 'Sheltered Housing' and 'Cluster Housing' to standard land uses, and 'Research and Development (B1) and Light Industrial (B1) added to business use types, for compatibility with UK 1APP application forms.Addition of 'Ownership' and 'Environmental Standard' parameters to all elements.Inclusion of 'Other Energy Generation' to Environmental tab.New Sample FilesDefault Node Properties now controlled via Next Element toolbar. In City, Movement and Appraisal grids, drop-down menu replaced with buttons for show 'all' (previously 'Element List'), 'by group' and 'by phase'.Additional column headers in City Grid which only display GFA in either sqm or sqf (can be referred to even if units changed for the default GFA column.)Embodied CO2 can now be entered as a total, per GFA or per unit.Report format revised with new outputs. Enhancements:Drawing features Improved DXF CAD Import - DXF Base Maps ('xrefs') can now be easily refreshed from source file. You can import a DXF CAD file and automatically convert into a number of City Items, placed at the correct location.Ortho Snap drawing constraints.New keyboard shortcuts - Ctrl-W (Zoom to Window), Ctrl-E (Zoom to Extents), Ctrl-I (Image-tracing snap settings) and Ctrl-D (DXF-tracing snap settings).New 'Reverse Direction' control when editing Streetscape Elements of a route.Analysis and Information FeaturesNew Liveability Shading features - shade blocks according to distance from services, land uses or city item types. Shade according to absolute distance, or based on Liveability thresholds.Custom Parameters extended to routes.Shading according to custom parameters.City Design Assistant PanelRevised Embedded Browser - relevant help articles and resources displayed according to user preferences.Online Database - link from CityCAD to improved online database of urban spaces and housing projectsToolbarsSwitch boundary line visibility between 'always invisible', 'always visible' or 'show if not hidden by blocks'Snaps Toolbar - select dxf or image tracing, and quickly toggle snaps on and off when drawing routesMiscellaneousHigher performance graphics rendering and reduced memory use for blocks and trees. Improved render structures for larger numbers of routes.New alert when deleting custom parameters (with 'don't show this again' option)If free trial fails to activate, link to email client program provided to request licence code for trial. Many new cities added to internal database in Sun/Sky settings.Z-depth bias added to avoid visualization glitches when viewing very large scale blocks set at ground plane level.New DXF import dialog will suggest level of detail adjustments if a large file is being imported using the 'DXF-URB' method.Miscellaneous fixes and minor improvements. Requirements:Windows XP512Mb RAM (1Gb or more recommended)Microsoft .NET 2.0 FrameworkManaged DirectX for Microsoft .NET 2.0 DirectX 9.0 - compatible graphics card with at least 32Mb of memory (128Mb or more recommended)..
