Da mercoledì 22 maggio, in prima serata, Italia 1 trasmetterà in prima tv assoluta la terza stagione di Lethal Weapon, la serie tv poliziesca creata da Matt Miller e basata sulla saga cinematografica con protagonista Mel Gibson.
Grandi cambiamenti in vista rispetto alle due edizioni precedenti. In particolare, il pubblico farà la conoscenza di un nuovo protagonista: dopo la morte di Martin Riggs nel finale della seconda stagione, ad affiancare Roger Murtaugh (Damon Wayans) arriverà il detective Wesley Cole, interpretato da Seann William Scott (il celebre Stig Stiffler di American Pie).
Cole è un padre di famiglia ex militare, ex CIA, reduce dall'Iraq, il cui cognome è un omaggio al personaggio di Rene Russo del terzo e quarto film della saga. A proposito dell’avvicendamento con Riggs, Seann William Scott ha dichiarato: “Rimpiazzarlo sarebbe stato strano. Ho visto una cosa del genere in una soap opera e non funziona. Penso che un sacco di fan potrebbero arrabbiarsi non vedendo Riggs, ma quando vedranno la serie penseranno che abbiamo gestito il tutto nel modo più rispettoso possibile nei confronti del personaggio e per quello che significava nello show”.
Per ogni appuntamento, Italia 1 terrà col fiato sospeso i telespettatori con tre episodi consecutivi, dei 15 complessivi di cui è composta la terza stagione.
