Reba McEntire:
Wikipedia: Reba Nell McEntire (born March 28, 1955) is an American country singer, songwriter, actress, and record producer. She began her career in the music industry as a high school student singing in the Kiowa High School band, on local radio shows with her siblings, and at rodeos. While a sophomore in college, she performed the National Anthem at the National Rodeo in Oklahoma City and caught the attention of country artist Red Steagall who brought her to Nashville, Tennessee. She signed a contract with Mercury Records a year later in 1975. She released her first solo album in 1977 and released five additional studio albums under the label until 1983. Signing with MCA Nashville Records, McEntire took creative control over her second MCA album, My Kind of Country (1984), which had a more traditional country sound and produced two number one singles: "How Blue" and "Somebody Should Leave". The album brought her breakthrough success, bringing her a series of successful albums and number one singles in the 1980s and 1990s. McEntire has since released 29 studio albums, acquired 42 number one singles, 16 number one albums, and 28 albums have been certified gold, platinum or multi-platinum in sales by the Recording Industry Association of America. She is referred to as "The Queen of Country". and she is one of the best-selling artists of all time, having sold more than 75 million records worldwide. In the early 1990s, McEntire branched into film starting with 1990's Tremors. She has since starred in the Broadway revival of Annie Get Your Gun in 2001 and in her television sitcom, Reba (2001–07) for which she was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series–Musical or Comedy.
Stronger Than The Truth:
Wikipedia: Stronger Than the Truth is the thirty-third studio album by American country music singer Reba McEntire. It was released on April 5, 2019, by Big Machine Records. On September 18, 2018, McEntire posted a picture on Instagram stating that she was back in the studio, and told The Boot that; "It's gonna be probably the most country album I've ever recorded." She also described it as "real country", and was inspired by the music she grew up listening to." In a press release, McEntire explained her inspiration and song selection, saying, "The response to Sing It Now: Songs of Faith & Hope reinforced my love for recording songs that speak to the heart. So when I started selecting songs for this album, I stuck with that same formula – go with the songs that touch my heart, and hopefully when you hear me singing it, they'll touch yours too. That honesty once again revealed itself."
AllMusic Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine: Stronger Than The Truth-the thirty-third studio album from Reba McEntire and the first of secular material since 2015's Love Somebody-kicks off with "Swing All Night Long With You," a joyous slice of western swing that functions as a manifesto of sorts: unlike the gleaming Love Somebody, Stronger Than The Truth is a pure, unadorned country album. McEntire delivers on this promise, albeit in her own fashion. While she returns to this hardcore sound on occasion through the record-witness the skipping "No U In Oklahoma," so nimble it could've been part of the Texas Playboys's repertoire-McEntire sticks to the kind of country that made her a star back in the '80s, emphasizing nuanced ballads and well-rendered narratives. Tempos rarely quicken on Stronger Than The Truth-apart from the two western swing numbers, there's the gilded confidence of "Storm In a Shot Glass, but not much more than that-but the album doesn't feel soft or meandering. Thanks to the co-production of Buddy Cannon-a Nashville stalwart who regularly recorded with Willie Nelson and Kenny Chesney in the 2010s-the album feels flinty even when it's tender, a combination that's long been a signature of Reba's. McEntire channels this empathetic toughness into a series of songs that play like short stories-there are tales if dashed dreams, managed expectations, earned love, along with many other manners of adult concerns-and that deft, subtle blend of music and message gives Stronger Than The Truth a lasting emotional resonance.
