L’industria pornografica è stata recentemente legalizzata offrendo opportunità di forti guadagni a personaggi che si muovono al margine della società.
Uno di loro è Eileen “Candy” Merrel, interpretata da una magistrale Maggie Gyllenhaal, professionista del sesso.
Eileen incrocia sulla propria strada Vincent e Frankie Martino, due gemelli interpretati entrambi da James Franco.
The Deuce è una serie firmata per Hbo da David Simon e George Pelecanos dove scommesse legali, droga, sesso e malavita sono i principali protagonisti e in Italia viene trasmessa da Sky Atlantic.
Negli USA la prima serie di The Deuce ha debuttato il 10 settembre 2017 mentre la seconda stagione è partita il 9 settembre 2018; qui in Italia Sky trasmetterà il primo episodio di The Deuce 2 il 15 ottobre.
Con The Deuce 2 riprenderanno le vicende di Candy, dei gemelli Martino e della giovane Abbie in una New York dal doppio volto che di notte lascia spazio al degrado, prostitute e tossicodipendenti. Dove si susseguono risse, retate della polizia e scontri tra bande di mafie rivali.
Con la seconda stagione di The Deuce riprenderà anche il via vai di zeppe e camicie floreali della tipica ambientazione “Seventies”, dove le inconfondibili acconciature la faranno da padrone. Il tutto con il sottofondo degli indimenticabili ritmi dell’epoca.
Che cosa succederà nel distretto newyorkese di Manhattano dove vive e si muove questa ampia e variegata umanità in questa seconda serie?
L’ottavo episodio della prima stagione ci aveva lasciato nel 1971, con The Deuce 2 arriveremo direttamente nel 1978 ma la notte continuerà ad essere la principale protagonista, piena di attrazioni di ogni genere e di personaggi spregiudicati.
Ci saranno ancora Candy e i gemelli Martino, così come Abby e Lori. A quanto pare Eileen e Vince hanno accumulato la loro fortuna ciascuno a modo suo, nei rispettivi campi. Sarà già il periodo dei punk e della disco ma l’ambiente sarà sempre circoscritto tra la 42th street e Times Square, area conosciuta appunto come The Deuce.
Di sicuro The Deuce 2 continuerà ad essere la serie spregiudicata che conosciamo ma qualcosa di sconvolgente sta travolgendo la città. Sembra infatti che il distretto a luci rosse stia per chiudere. Alcune attività sono messe al bando totale, così come alcune tipologie di “prestazioni”. Che succederà alla variegata umanità di New York?
