In una misera baracca, costruita con altre sulla collina che fiancheggia San Pietro, vive con la sua numerosissima famiglia (la moglie, una decina di figli e un mucchio di parenti) il vecchio Giacinto Mazzatella, un pugliese orbo e ubriacone la cui principale preoccupazione è quella di difendere dall'avidità dei familiari il milione che gli è stato dato per la perdita di un occhio. Dopo essersi spinto, per salvaguardare il suo tesoro, fino a sparare su uno dei suoi figli, egli si porta in casa, per far dispetto alla moglie, una imponente prostituta, obbligando la consorte a farle posto nel letto matrimoniale. Furente per l'affronto, la donna organizza, d'accordo con tutta la famiglia, l'avvelenamento del vecchio con mezzo chilo di topicida mischiato col sugo di un'abbondante pastasciutta.
In a miserable shack, built with others on the hill that runs alongside San Pietro, he lives with his numerous family (his wife, a dozen children and a bunch of relatives) the old Giacinto Mazzatella, an Apulian orban and drunk whose main concern is that of defending from the greed of the family the million that was given to him for the loss of an eye. After pushing, to protect his treasure, to shoot on one of his children, he brings home, to spite his wife, an imposing prostitute, forcing his wife to place her in the double bed. Furious for the affront, the woman organizes, in agreement with the whole family, the poisoning of the old man with a pound of rat poisoned mixed with the sauce of an abundant pasta.
