DESCRIPTION
After a lonely summer on Privet Drive, Harry returns to a Hogwarts full of ill-fortune. Few of students and parents believe him or Dumbledore that Voldemort is really back. The ministry had decided to step in by appointing a new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher that proves to be the nastiest person Harry has ever encountered. Harry also can't help stealing glances with the beautiful Cho Chang. To top it off are dreams that Harry can't explain, and a mystery behind something Voldemort is searching for. With these many things Harry begins one of his toughest years at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Durante le vacanze estive, Harry è alle prese con suo cugino Dudley che continua ad insultarlo, ma improvvisamente due dissennatori attaccano sia Harry che Dudley (dato che quest'ultimo è un Babbano, non ha visto il dissennatore e pensa sia una maledizione causata da Harry). Harry è allora costretto a praticare un Patronus per respingere i dissennatori e a casa degli zii riceverà una lettera dal Ministero della Magia che gli annuncia che dovrà presentarsi a un'udienza disciplinare. Con l'appoggio testimoniale di Albus Silente e della sua vicina di casa, Arabella Figg, che si scopre essere una Maganò, il ragazzo viene fortunatamente assolto.
Trasferitosi per il resto dell'estate a casa di Sirius Black, al numero 12 di Grimmauld Place a Londra, viene a sapere dagli amici Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Fred e George che la residenza del suo padrino è il quartier generale dell'Ordine della Fenice, un'organizzazione segreta capeggiata da Silente in persona, con lo scopo di contrastare Lord Voldemort e i suoi Mangiamorte. All'Ordine appartengono tra gli altri Alastor "Malocchio" Moody, i genitori di Ron, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin e Severus Piton. In origine facevano parte dell'organizzazione anche i genitori di Neville Paciock (sottoposti alla Maledizione Cruciatus e ora al San Mungo) e quelli di Harry......
